Home For the Holidays

Home for the Holidays

This holiday why not warm up with a splash of color? Winter is notorious for red and green, but most people are baffled about truly showcasing these strong colors without overwhelming their space. Fortunately, there is a terrific new style that breaks through the old red-green theme, and introduces the holidays in a subtle, but lasting impression.

I found this great dining room design by John Lyle that perfectly brings the holidays home without using the traditional re-green theme. The green is tucked away on the wall in dark forest leaves, and the red is displayed boldly on the chairs.

To achieve this look at a budget price, try paring up Coaster’s red leather chairs (100497RED) with their glass top chrome finish table (120280). These two options are very similar to Lyle’s design and capture his mains ideas. If you don’t like the harsh chrome details and own a wooden table, you can also pull off this look like swapping the chairs with these burgundy leather chairs with walnut finish (100494BGD). Chrome and black colored chairs accent pieces can be added on the table to mimic Lyle’s holiday look.

On the other hand, buying red furniture can be a little daunting, but never pout, stick to the color palette when in doubt! Try using a neutral palette, such as crème, whore or soft yellow paired with red and black accents. The neutral light colors keep the eyes focused on the red accents, while the black details help bring texture and balance to the overall picture (John-Lyle-design). Also, chrome finishes counter act with the red to add sophistication and glamour that can only be achieved with a touch of sparkle.

A great example to go with this look is this 5 pc. dining set with cream colored seats and a black finish by Coaster (#150301). The strong contrast is a perfect substitute for Lyle’s look, but adds comfort with the wood details. And like always, these suggestions are all available on our site in our Coaster or dining room sections at the lowest prices guaranteed.
